Working principle of silicone oil fan clutch

Silicon oil fan clutch, using silicon oil as the medium, using silicon oil shear viscosity transfer torque. The space between the front cover of the fan clutch and the driven plate is the oil storage chamber, where the silicon oil with high viscosity is stored.

The key sensing component is the spiral bimetal plate temperature sensor on the front cover, which senses the heat and deforms to control the valve plate so as to control the silicone oil into the working chamber to engage the drive shaft and the fan.

When the engine load increases, the temperature of the coolant rises, the high temperature airflow blows on the bimetal temperature sensor, so that the bimetal sheet is heated and deformed, driving the valve drive pin and the control valve sheet to deflect an Angle. When the air flow temperature exceeds a certain temperature, the oil inlet hole is opened, and the silicone oil in the oil storage chamber enters the working chamber through this hole. Through the shear stress of silicone oil, the torque on the active plate is transferred to the clutch housing to drive the fan to rotate at high speed.
