Mercedes-Benz’s all-electric truck, Eactros, made its global debut

On June 30, 2021, Mercedes-Benz’s all-electric truck, the Eactros, was launched globally. The new vehicle is part of Mercedes-Benz Trucks’ vision to be carbon neutral for the European commercial market by 2039.  In fact, in the commercial vehicle circle, Mercedes-Benz’s Actros series is very famous, and it is known as the “Seven Musketeers of European Truck” together with Scania, Volvo, MAN, Duff, Renault and Iveco.  The most important thing is that, with the increasing growth of domestic commercial truck field, some overseas brands have begun to accelerate their layout in the domestic market. Mercedes-Benz has confirmed that its first domestic product will be launched in 2022, and Mercedes-Benz Eactros electric truck is bound to enter the domestic market in the future, which will have a profound impact on the domestic truck environment.  Mercedes-Benz EACTROS electric truck, a product with mature technology and Mercedes-Benz brand support entering the market, is bound to refresh the domestic high-end heavy truck standard, and will also become a powerful competitor in the industry.  According to official sources, Mercedes will also introduce the Eactros Longhaul electric truck in the future.

The design style of Mercedes-Benz EACTROS is not different from the common Mercedes Actros. The new car is expected to offer different cab models to choose from in the future. Compared with the common diesel Actros, the new car just adds the unique “EACTROS” logo on the exterior.  The EACTROS is based on a pure electric architecture. The drive axle is the ZF AE 130. In addition to supporting pure electric power, the EACTROS is compatible with hybrid and fuel cell power.  Mercedes actually has a GenH2 hydrogen-fueled concept truck with the same axle, both of which won the 2021 International Truck Innovation of the Year Award.

The Mercedes-Benz EACTROS still offers a wealth of comfort and intelligent configuration, such as multiple adjustable airbag seats on the Mercedes-Benz EACTROS. The new car also provides a large number of auxiliary functions.  For example, ADAS intelligent driving assistance system, streaming media rearview mirror (with blind zone warning function), the latest generation of streaming media interactive cockpit, the fifth generation of active braking assistance system, vehicle side area protection assistance system and so on.

The Mercedes EACTROS powertrain uses a dual motor layout, with a maximum output of 330kW and 400kW respectively. In addition to excellent power, the EACTROS powertrain also has a significant reduction in outside and inside noise levels, especially when driving in the city.

As for the battery pack, Benz Eactros can be installed in 3 to 4 battery packs, each pack provides 105kWh capacity, the new car can support up to 315kWh and 420kWh total battery capacity, the maximum range of 400 km, through the 160kW quick-charge device can be fully charged in just over an hour, based on this level.  The new car as the trunk logistics vehicle use is very appropriate.  According to the official announcement, Ningde Times will be ready to supply three yuan lithium battery packs for Mercedes-Benz Eactros for domestic sales in 2024, indicating that the new car may enter the market in 2024.
